The Super Bowl was surely fantastic, and at the Songtradr offices, we like to keep one eye on the commercials. Here are my favorites!

What’s more awesome than a Peter Dinklage / Morgan Freeman rap battle?! Doritos and Mountain Dew stole the show with the Game of Thrones star covering Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, and Busta Rhymes’ hard-hitting, “Look At Me Now”. Morgan Freeman then slams it back, singing Missy Elliot’s dance anthem, “Get Your Freak On’. Such awesome music choices for a truly stand-out ad.
The New York Giants didn’t have the greatest season on the field, but they may have just made up for it with this hilarious ad. The ever-awkward Giants quarterback, Eli Manning, and smooth dancing wide receiver, Odell Beckham Jr., came together for a fantastic choreographed piece to Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes’, “The Time of My Life”. Look out for the clip climax where Manning and Beckham Jr. take things to a new level!

My last, favorite stand-out was NBC’s Olympics promo about Lindsey Vonn’s inspirational story which follows her through childhood, rise to stardom, devastating injury, and hard-fought recovery to dominate the skiing world once again! What better choice than Alicia Keys’, “Girl on Fire” to capture this incredible story! I for one, can’t wait for the Olympics now!
Every year the Super Bowl powerfully illustrates the driving factor behind an advertisement’s power is music. Bravo to Doritos, Mountain Dew, the NFL, and NBC for choosing the perfect tracks to drive their message.
