Gavyn Bailey joined us in our Santa Monica studios to talk about mental health, his humanitarian work, and what inspires him to make music.
Singer/Songwriter Gavyn Bailey makes quirky, touching music for the warm-hearted. He began creating music at 3 years old while recovering from a kidney transplant. The life-altering experience inspired him to explore music more deeply and learn several instruments, including guitar. Bailey is currently the ambassador for the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) Mental Health Initiative where he works to uplift others using his music. He was recently featured on the “People Making a Difference” segment on CBS News. The endearing interview features a young Gavyn detailing his struggles with depression, anxiety and PTSD. He admits turning to drugs and alcohol before finding music once again, to help him heal. He now uses the same tools in music, songwriting and singing to help others going through similar struggles.
Gavyn enjoys songwriting for both himself and others. Since signing with Bump Into Genius and Warner/Chappell Music, he’s written for and with several artists including Xenia (The Voice), Romeo Blanco, and MOODY, among others.
In June 2019, the California-born artist collaborated with Grammy-winning producer/mixer Trevor Muzzy and songwriter Ashley Maietta on his new singles. His EP Sickly in Love debuted at number 4 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter charts and gained a lot of traction for Gavyn. That same year, he was nominated for the OC Music Award for Best Youth Artist, the LA Music Award for Best Album, and Male Singer/Songwriter of the Year.
You can check out his new single, “Grass Is Never Greener” on all major platforms. Keep a look out for Gavyn Bailey’s new album, coming soon.

Great song and interview. In my opinion it’s a hit song. I used to sing that high but now it’s as deep as a bottomless lake. lol. I know about depression and being on the edge of calling it quits but that’s never the answer. It hurts the ones we love. But, these experiences make for great songwriting. It is very painful to undergo these problems and sometimes people just do not understand. Keep up the good work. Both of you are very talented.
Thank you so much for the kind words, Bruce!
