It’s crucial to have your music on Spotify as it is the biggest streaming platform in the world and one of the essential homes for music discovery today. Tastemakers and curators often use Spotify to unearth and shine a light on emerging artists.
Spotify for Artists
As soon as Songtradr distributes your music to Spotify you will have access to Spotify for Artists. One of Spotify’s coolest offerings is customization so you can keep your profile fresh and personalized which is a huge asset to promote yourself and your artist brand.
With Spotify for Artists you will be able to:
- Customize your header and profile image
- Edit your biography
- Sell Merch
- Pin new releases, singles, artist picks and curated playlists to the top of your profile
- Share others’ playlists
- Promote concert and tour dates
- View analytics
- Share band and concert photos
How Does It Work?
Once we upload your music, Spotify will connect the release to an artist profile — this means they will either create a new profile or add the new release to an existing profile. It’s imperative to claim your artist profile to be sure the connection is made correctly.
On some artist profiles, you may see a blue checkmark which means that profile is verified. The verification is available for all artists and there is no longer a minimum follower requirement to receive the blue checkmark. Simply claim your profile and you will be verified!
How to Claim Your Artist Profile
- Go to your release on Spotify
- Click the 3 dots beneath your artist name
- Hover over Share and click Copy Spotify URI
- Once you copy your Spotify URI, navigate to Spotify For Artists >
- Click Claim Your Profile
- Enter the Spotify URI into the search box
From here, you will be able to claim your Spotify profile.

I have a rap song I want to produce, but I don’t have the budget or equipment that would allow me to do so.i want to collaborate with Songtradr in getting the song coded and produced on Spotify.
Songtradr doesnt do that you need a producer (like me) then once the song is produced you use songtradr to release your track to the world. When you say you have a rap song do you mean yo have lyrics written? what?
Where are you from ? I Have My own lab if your not near me i have way you can record from your own house as long as you have a smartphone or computer. lunerjackson1@gmail.com
How much does it cost?
Distribution comes as a part of our Songtradr Pro package for $5 per month. If you don’t want any of the Songtradr Pro benefits but are interested in distribution we offer Songtradr Distro for $20/year.
Is all of our music being uploaded? Can we opt out of this? I’d really rather not have the music me and my band have on songtradr to be on Spotify or any other streaming service. Especially because it would create duplicates of certain tracks that we already have up and also there are songs I don’t want released publicly
Jameson — Distribution is completely optional on Songtradr. Your music will only be distributed if you create a release on Songtradr.
Just tried to do this but I am seeing another band with an album in my library and it won’t let me claim my album or spot. I registered through Songtradr and am totally new to this part of the biz. Do I have to change our band name? Can I just fix it through Songtradr? I am a little perplexed
Matthew, if you haven’t done it yet, yo need to go to artists.spotify.com and there is a help/faqs section. You can submit the credentials and ask for your catalog to be organized properly. Your work will be separated from other artists with similar names and under your profile. It takes several days. But is usually complete in a week.
I have released music under the name Billy Lightcap on Spotify. I am now releasing music under my own name Steve Merola. But when I claim my Steve Merola artist profile I keep going to the Billy Lightcap page. I own 100% of the material.
1) There is something else you can do: you can pitch directly to Spotify any upcoming releases to be considered for editorial playlists (without guarranty of inclusion, of course)
2) To sell merchandise you have to make a deal with third parties. Is not very easy, but can be done. I you want to go step by step (and achieve experience in the process), this feature is possibly the last one you will set.
Just slidin’ through to comment. A lot of veey interesting thoughts. Looking to fit into something like this, a plat that is built on honesty, integrity and most importantly, trust. ☕😎
I have a few demo’s I’d like to post, how do I go about it?
Hi Derek,
Here are directions to upload your music to Songtradr! https://support.songtradr.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005397208-Upload-Your-Music
Does Songtradr collect a percentage of royalties for distribution of the music? Or do artists get to keep 100%
Trying to claim my artist/track. I released a track through songtradr. Followed the instructions above. Pasted the URL. Spotify tells me that my track was uploaded by CD baby and that I should claim it through them. But I don’t have a CD baby account, but presumably I do have an artist account on Spotify? Help. Too complicated.
Hi Kyle! Spotify isn’t available in India! How can I register there?

Please I need help, how can I customize a single fanlink on songtradr to share to my fans? I have already released the songs and distributed but I need a single link that would lead my fans to a couple of preferred stores.. Thanks
Hey Michael — thanks for your patience. Please email support@songtradr.com so we can best assist you!
I like your blog. Its one of the awesome blogs online
Thanks Von Milke – we appreciate that!
Spotify isn’t showing the URI (Uniform Resource Indicator) any longer. If you need the URI for something, do this:
— get your “normal” URL, for instance https://open.spotify.com/artist/0sr00YxbHKRAruzYrJ6PEg?si=d0DSlADQSsWVMhMyc33ARQ&dl_branch=1
— delete every to the right of the question mark: https://open.spotify.com/artist/0sr00YxbHKRAruzYrJ6PEg
— The structure of a URI is: URI: spotify:artist:22-digit-CODE
— Therefore, the corresponding URI is: spotify:artist:0sr00YxbHKRAruzYrJ6PEg
You have another way, actually easier:
— go to the artist
— click on the three dots
— you see “share”
— mouse over “copy ink”
— now CTRL+ on it would toggle the option link/URI
Thanks for the info, Juan!
