Los-Angeles based B2B music rights and licensing marketplace Songtradr has entered into an exclusive partnership with Australia-based, publicly listed technology company Jaxsta. Founded in 2015 by Jacqui Louez Schoorl and Louis Schoorl, Jaxsta claims to be “the world’s largest dedicated database of official music credits”.

Listed music company Jaxsta’s (JXT) shares have spiked nearly 300 per cent on a five-year deal with Songtradr, a privately owned music licencing business. Under the deal, Jaxsta Pro members will gain access to Songtradr’s collection service, which helps artists identify where their sound recordings are being played in order to collect royalties, known as neighbouring rights.

Jaxsta stock blew up in early trading on the ASX after the official music credits database announced a multi-year commercial agreement with Songtradr. Early Thursday (10th September), Sydney-based Jaxsta confirmed a commercial agreement and an investment with Songtradr, the Los-Angeles-based global B2B music rights and licensing marketplace platform. Overall, the deal is worth A$1.92 million (including A$1.42 million via a convertible note).

A mostly Australian-owned, Los Angeles-based music licensing platform whose deal with Jaxsta sent shares in the music database company soaring yesterday isn’t done making headlines. Songtradr is hungry for acquisitions after buying tech-enabled music service Big Sync Music last year and raising $US30 million ($A41m) in a series C funding round last month that valued the company at $US165 million ($227 million).
