Songtradr’s Santa Monica team hosts a monthly music showcase featuring talented artists from the community.
This Session was especially notable as, Retro Bloom, the first full band to take the Songtradr stage, performed. And we couldn’t imagine a better band to ring in our new set-up. Retro Bloom are a lively, indie-funk group made up of 4 musician friends. They hail from Chicago and Kansas, and officially made their start in St. Louis, Missouri during college. In actual fact, 3/4ths of Retro Bloom dabbled in the world of a cappella and competed against each other during their college years. We’re excited to share an exclusive sneak peek of Retro Bloom’s unreleased track, “Got in Your Heart.” Be warned: You may find an uncontrollable need to dance while listening!
Retro Bloom
Retro Bloom is Timmy Skelly (vox/rhythm guitar), Ryan Chollet (lead guitar/vox), John McManus (drums/vox) and Riley O’Halloran (bass).
One thing’s for sure, Retro Bloom can start a party.
Retro Bloom presented the office with fresh roses. It’s a signature and lovely gesture inspired by their own, former florist and current guitarist Ryan Chollet. That same influence is the ingenuity behind this charming, 4‑man band’s matching, floral suits. Retro Bloom is a funny talented bunch, who joked with each other and the audience before jumping into their first jam. “Got in Your Heart” is a funky, upbeat tune about embracing love for music and allowing it to guide your path. Retro Bloom’s energy is infectious. By the end of their set, the lively, soulful band ignited a party in our cozy kitchen-turned-stage. Not in the video: One of our co-workers hitting the floor to breakdance for the team. Let’s just say, Retro Bloom knows how to show a good time. You can find their music on all major platforms.
We’ll leave you with their own words,
“But seriously, why not dance? Life is just one long, beautiful dance with the mysterious, is it not?”
