Many artists may submit music to Spotify playlists. This is because placement on a Spotify playlist has become one of the premier ways to create buzz around new music releases. Even better, the submission process couldn’t be simpler.
How It Works
- Sign up or login to Spotify for Artists. All your unreleased music will be located within the Home or Profile sections of your artist dashboard
- On the Home section, click Get Started, next to the track you’d like to submit
- You can also right-click on unreleased songs within the Profile section, and click Submit a Song
- Fill out the playlist submission form and provide as much information as possible about the track
Important Notes
- You can only submit music if you already have music on the platform and your Spotify for Artists account is set up
- Only unreleased tracks can be considered
- Once your release is live it is no longer eligible for playlist submission.
- Submissions are limited to one song at a time, so if you’re choosing from an Album or EP, select your best track!
- You will not be able to submit another track until your current submission is released.
- Your submission must occur at least 7 days before your release date
- The more time you can give Spotify, the better.
- Provide as much metadata about your music as possible
- The right metadata will help Spotify curators discover your music and place you in the most relevant playlists.
Please note: Submission of music to Spotify playlists is only available from desktop computers
Playlist submission is beneficial even if you are not accepted into one of the editorial playlists. By submitting your music to Spotify playlists you are guaranteed placement on your follower’s Release Radar playlists, which can be found in the Browse section. When you submit music to Spotify playlists, you’re one step closer to gaining more recognition for your work — a benefit musicians and artists everywhere understand.
How can I use this on my Smart phone
Hi Azmeer,
We have a limited functionality mobile website available now. We are currently developing our mobile app which will be full functionality.
What if I uploaded a track years ago. How do I get on the playlist now? How do I submit to others?
Kelvin
HI Zac.,
I was trying to upload music for a submission and had trouble; tried four times (4x) using .Aif file.
One guy said he had trouble also. I am new at ST, though have uploaded music to SoundCloud (.mp3).
Looks like you’re talking about Spotify for Artists and I’m talking about submissions, hopefully you can pass this on to someone else at ST. Thank you for your time.
Have a great week.
Sincerely,
Mr. Kerry Kennard
Hi Kerry,
What browser are you using? We recommend Google Chrome or Safari if possible. Also, please make sure there are no special characters or spaces in your audio file name.

Hi I would like to know if I can choose unrealeased tracks for playlist placement even if I’m distributing with a external distributor. Thanks
Yes, but you must already have your Spotify for Artists profile set up. Once it’s set up, all new releases will go to your Unreleased Music section on your Spotify account. From there, you can submit to Spotify playlists.
Is this possible if you release through a distributor? How will the song show up in Spotify for Artists?
Hi Evan,
Yes, but you must already have your Spotify for Artists profile set up. Once it’s set up, all new releases will go to your Unreleased Music section on your Spotify account. From there, you can submit to Spotify playlists.

Hi everyone listen let’s keep songtradr as the best tool ok here is where we shares our music and videos in all’$ social media so it’$important to respect
I use distrokid to upload music, but it won’t allow me to upload music to be released more than a day in advance, Therefore, Spotify for artists does not detect that I have an unreleased track and so I cannot submit it to appear on a playlist. What can I do about this?
Hi Ian,
Not sure about their model, but with Songtradr you can select any release date you want. Meaning, once you have your Spotify for Artists set up, new releases will go into an Unreleased Music pile in your Spotify account. From there, you can submit to playlists.
There are tons of other playlists out there, any suggestions on how to submit to those? What about music that we already have out? Any suggestions on how to submit older songs to playlists? I know that for THIS songs must still be in prerelease to be considered.
It has been said my music is better than David Guetta! House Music needs to bounce back this summer and EDM must DIE. Check me out guys and share please!
Hi. Does this mean I have to create a new profile, I uploaded my music on Songtradr alreado I have to start all over again?
Hi,
This only applies to music you’ve digitally distributed on Songtradr to streaming platforms. Here’s more information: https://support.songtradr.com/hc/en-us/articles/360005401254-Songtradr-Distribution
Hello Hope All is well i would like to know who can i contact regarding some Spotify Playlist, My Team Would Like invest in some popular playlist as we see great results into doing so. Hope all is well thank you for your time.
Sorry but I’m a bit confused, you say submission to playlists are for unreleased songs only but you also say this is only available to songs you’ve digitally distributed via songtradr to other streaming platforms. Please can you clarify that?
Hi,
You must have a current Spotify for Artists profile to submit to playlists, meaning you cannot submit your first ever release to a playlist. Once your profile is claimed, all future releases you create will appear in an Unreleased Music section until the release date in your Spotify for Artists profile.
Does that make sense?
I ‘ve already released my song, So
does it mean, I am not permitted to send to Spotify again???
“Important Notes

Hi Kyle,
If an artist already needs their music on Spotify before submitting it to a playlist, does this mean that when I release my very first song onto the platform that it will not be eligible as there wouldn’t be any other songs of mine that are already on there? The reason I ask is because I am currently waiting for my music to be distributed to Spotify but once it is on there it will then be considered “released” which would therefore make it ineligible according to the above article.
Thank you,
Corey
Hello I just upload my song with Songtradr an EP Album of 4 track which is coming out on the 21 of this month and I want to submit one of the song on the EP to Spotify playlist am just asking is there anyway my music is going to show up on my Spotify for artist profile for me to submit my song to Spotify Curator
Hi,
You should have received a note from our Support team. If you have any additional questions, please let us know. Thanks!
My songtradr account shows that my song is set to release on 22nd Jan 2021. But I don’t see it in my upcoming songs on my Spotify for artists account. Also I don’t have any other song on Spotify at the moment. How do I pitch my song to a playlist?
Hi Achintya, thank you for the comment. If your song did not release as expected, please contact support@songtradr.com. Thanks so much!
