Songtradr SyncTalk is a podcast series that opens the discussion around sync licensing, its many participants, and some of the ins and outs around placing music and sound to visual media.
“A lot goes on behind the scenes, actually. And it’s not always that glamorous.”
Such truer words were never spoken on crafting the right sound for sync placement. In this episode, I spoke to the delightful Lisa James. The music supervisor who is based in London, UK has worked on such major brands as Dove, Google, and Johnnie Walker.
According to James, early inclusion in the creative process is key to an aligned production and ultimately, an optimum result. It doesn’t always happen this way of course, as every pitching and placement process is different. On Tanqueray’s, “Since 1830” campaign, however, James joined the process during the concept stage and quickly identified the creative sound design team, WMP as the ones to deliver.
The rest is history, as they say, for James secured the placement with a stunning end result.
